Picasso lived in Bcn from 13 years old until his early adulthood. In this museum you are able to see all his firsts paintings as a child, a large collection of his blue and pink period and the transformation on how he became cubist. One of the best museums in Barcelona, it is not big but its got a good collection.
This foundation is for the art lovers. They have a beautiful collection of Joan Miro’s finest pintings. The building was made by his archictect/friend Josep Lluis Sert . It’s located on top of Mount Montjuic, so you can see beautiful views of the city. You can plan a day to see the mountain, the foundation and the gardens just below from it that are a hidden gem.
We are not sure if we like more the museum or the building. Richard Meier made the building in 1995. The collection is interesting; they have contemporary Catalan art and always a very good changing exhibition on the lower floor. All in this beautiful white building.
This museum is fantastic. It has one of the largest collections of Romanesque and Byzantine art in Spain. It is so beautiful to see al this “frescos” in one only place. Also the building is very impressive, made for 1992 world fair. The Magic fountain show is on this building, so you could do both on one afternoon.
This is an experience! You enter this museum, you go down an elevator and is as if you where in a time machine. When the elevator opens you are beneath the gothic quarter, looking at all the remains of the roman first settlement named “Barcino”. You walk throw this settlement, it is well explained how they lived and they have renders of how the forum use to look likeplace imagewow!
